Calculation audit and documentation system

Version 1 centralizes performance calculations, fixes missing-value and logo-loading problems, and adds public documentation with protected versioned publishing tools.

Detailed changes

Version 1 reviews the formulas used for personal bests, season bests, standards, percentages, trends, projections, wind estimates, consistency, correlations, and splits. The shared calculation engine now keeps full precision internally and applies display rounding only at the presentation boundary.

New features

  • Searchable, mobile-friendly documentation with separate topic pages and direct section links.
  • Filterable public patch notes.
  • Protected Documentation and Updates administration area with Markdown editing and live preview.
  • Draft, publish, unpublish, schedule, pin, archive, soft-delete, and restore workflows.
  • Complete revision snapshots and audit records for every administrative change.

Improvements

  • One lower-is-better or higher-is-better rule is reused across the website.
  • Standard comparisons require compatible class, gender category, event, season, venue, and age group.
  • Time formatting carries rounded seconds into minutes or hours correctly.
  • Public explanations distinguish official, source-derived, athlete-entered, and calculated information.

Calculation and methodology changes

  • Missing performances no longer appear as 0% progress.
  • Invalid, zero, NaN, and infinite inputs no longer produce performance comparisons.
  • Equal marks remain tied instead of being reordered as if one were better.
  • Standard progress and improvement-needed values now come from one guarded formula.
  • Least-squares calculations, averages, population standard deviation, percent improvement, and seasonal projections share reviewed utilities.

Bug fixes

  • Corrected production logo requests that previously passed through a failing image-optimization route.
  • Corrected hour-level time rounding that could display a rounded 60 seconds without carrying into the next minute.
  • Prevented current-standard comparisons from using incompatible historical classes or age groups.

Data-source changes

No official standard is generated by this release. Published USA Track & Field - Paralympics values remain stored with source and verification dates. Source-derived and calculated datasets retain their existing labels.

Security and permissions

Only authenticated administrator accounts can edit documentation or patch notes. Sensitive publishing and restoration actions require explicit confirmation. Deletes are recoverable soft deletes, and prior versions remain stored.

Impact on athletes and coaches

Athletes and coaches receive clearer standard progress, consistent best-mark direction, safer missing-data handling, and plain-language explanations. Existing valid competition marks are not changed by this release.

Known issues and limitations

Projections remain estimates and can change substantially with small samples. Wind estimates are limited to the supported 100 m, 200 m, long jump, and triple jump models. Athlete-entered results still require source review before they can be treated as official.
